Thoughts on ‘My Simple Scrapper’

I am so chuffed to have been chosen as Featured Designer on the Simple Scrapper site for May. They have developed some sweet templates based on my designs, and they’re fab! I also did an interview for their blog. But I don’t think they’ve published it yet. Watch this space I guess!

The site was set up by Jennifer Wilson. It’s a community based site. Offering encouragement, tutorials, zoom crops, templates & sketches, memory keeping tips & ideas and loads more. Jennifer also does an amazing podcast that I am addicted to!.

I am currently taking part in the Orientation class. Which encourages you to think about why you scrapbook, identify your goals and complete assignments! I’m really enjoying it. It’s super motivating for me.

I have been given free membership for three months because I am a featured designer. It really is the most wonderfully warm and friendly site. BUT. Here’s the thing. Membership is usually 24.99 (dollars) for 1 Month – or 199.00 Annually.

So I’m pretty sure I won’t be able to afford it long term. I am gutted because I really love the interaction, encouragement and inspiration from all of the staff and members. So I’m just wondering, is anyone else a member? Would you consider joining? I cannot stress how much I would recommend this site. I just cannot afford it.

Here’s a layout I did for one of the assignments. It’s all about the love between Poppy dog and Matt’s girlfriend, Sol. I used Outdoor Adventures kit from Humble & create, and I’m pretty sure I’ll make a template out of it eventually!

Thank you for visiting and reading. My next post will be bringing you details of a Blog Hop that I am taking part in and I have a free template for you.

  1. Hi Karen. I love Jennifer’s podcasts. I’m a few weeks behind, but aside from that, I have listened to every one. I caught a snippet on FB that you were being featured in May, but when I tried to go back to it, it wasn’t there. I look forward to your interview.

Like you, I have considered joining, but being retired now, I can’t justify the cost. And with me being digital, I have my doubts I could participate in much of it. Plus I am on nine different design teams, spread across four different stores… It can be pretty hectic.

Haven’t seen you around TLP, but I would imagine that with designing, you have little time for much else. Wishing you all the best in your new shop. πŸ™‚

    1. Hi Marilyn! How are you?
My interview is meant to be on the blog. I chickened out of doing a podcast. stupid I know!
I don’t get the time to visit the Lily pad much. I am so busy with designing and I’m still on two design teams. But nine?!!!! That’s a lot lol!

It’s interesting to hear your views on ‘The Simple Scrapper’ They are on to such a good thing. I really wish it could be cheaper. Thanks for commenting Marilyn. It’s good to hear from you x

  2. I was so excited to see you as a featured designer. I love your designs, they are so my style. I am a member and certainly understand the cost considerations. It is the best money I have ever spent on myself. The community is fabulous. I am more productive and satisfied with my scrapbooking but also with the other areas of my life. It is all connected. The support I receive around my highs and lows is unmatched anywhere. I have made so many new friends around the country, many of which I have met in person. I am a digital scrapper as is close to half the community. I am happy to share more.

    1. Hi and thank you so much for commenting. Thank you too for liking what I do. That means a lot. I totally agree with you regarding The Simple Scrapper. I would love to stay on after my three months. But I can’t make it work financially (unless my template business really takes off lol) . It certainly seems like a very special place to be πŸ™‚
